Securus Technologies, the Dallas, Texas-based holding company that provides technology-based services to government agencies has announced yet another acquisition in January 2018. They have acquired payment processing leader, GovPayNet, in a deal with undisclosed details. The acquisition aligns with Securus’ July of 2015 acquisition of JPay, a payment processor. This move will allow Securus the ability to handle over 40 million payments on an annual basis, making it one of the largest of its kind in the country.
GovPayNet’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark MacKenzie, said of the deal, “We are looking forward to expanding our capabilities under Securus Technologies. We have a great team and cutting-edge solutions.” This move does exactly that. The company is headquartered in Indianapolis and has been in business since 1997. They process debit and credit payments such as bail, tax, and traffic fines for over 2,300 municipalities in 35 states. Their overall reach is in over 26% of counties in those states.
Securus Technoliges’ President and CEO, Robert “Bob” Pickens said in part, “We are very excited to be adding GovPayNet to our portfolio of products.” Securus has been in operation since 1986 and has handled over 20 acquisition in the past 20 years alone to include JPay, Telerus, CellBlox, JOBview, and others. They employee over 1,000 people in their Dallas office and three other regional offices in Texas and Georgia. They provide a host of services to over 3,600 corrections facilities in North America.
